Don't Forget - Hertford Town Centre Christmas Lights Are Switched On Tonight

Maidenhead Street ahead of the Christmas Gala

A reminder - Hertford's annual Christmas Gala takes place this evening, Friday 26th November.

A wealth of festive activities is taking place in the town centre's streets between 4:00 and 8:00pm.

The casts of Hertford Theatre's two pantomimes, Cinderella and Aladdin, wiil be performing in Salisbury Square and walking round the town centre. There will be entertainment from the Wheatcroft School choir, the Richard Hale School band, Hertford Choral Society, Top Hat Stage School, a steel band and Hertford Guides, Brownies and Rainbows.

At 4:30pm the Cheerful Trader trophy will be presented outside the White Hart in Salisbury Square. The Winning Windows contest winner will also be announced; the prize is a hamper donated by Alworth's in Maidenhead Street.

Many shops will be staying open late and a street market is being held in Market Place.

The Christmas lights set up around the streets are being switched on at 5:00pm by the Mayor of Hertford Cllr Brenda Haddock (Con, Kingsmead) and Steve Folland, a presenter from Jack FM.

Be there and enjoy the uniquely cheerful, family atmosphere.
